Police Receive Three Reports Over Alleged Damage To Non-Muslim Place Of Worship In Bukit Tinggi

Date:

Police have confirmed receiving three reports over an alleged incident involving a statue structure at a non-Muslim place of worship in Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, which was reportedly damaged on Sunday.

Acting Pahang police chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob said the three reports were lodged on August 16 at 1.51am, 2.32am and 4.35pm.

He said the reports were made by three men, comprising a 49-year-old security guard, a 45-year-old monk and another 41-year-old man.

“Police have visited the scene and preliminary investigations found that there were no closed-circuit television cameras installed at the temple, while no independent witnesses were found to have seen the incident,” he said in a statement on Monday.

Azry Akmar said the case is being investigated under Section 295 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Police are taking the matter seriously and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident and identify those involved.

He also urged the public to avoid speculation or sharing unverified information, particularly on social media, as it could disrupt the investigation or cause public concern.

“Any information related to the incident should be channelled to the police to assist with investigations,” he said.
