Romeo Beckham Fined After Being Caught Using Phone Behind The Wheel

Date:

Model Romeo Beckham has been fined and handed penalty points after being caught using his mobile phone while driving his luxury Porsche through central London.

The 23-year-old was stopped by police in Westminster in September last year after an officer allegedly spotted him looking down at his phone while waiting at a red traffic light.

According to evidence presented in court, officers observed Beckham scrolling on a mobile device held near the steering wheel of his Porsche 911 Carrera, a vehicle worth more than £100,000. A female passenger was reportedly also looking at her phone, while an unrestrained dog was sitting on her lap.

The officer involved said the situation raised concerns that the driver was distracted and not in full control of the vehicle. He added that the loose dog inside the car could also have posed a safety risk.

Police pulled Beckham over and issued advice regarding the animal, noting that the UK’s Highway Code requires pets to be suitably restrained while travelling in vehicles to prevent distractions and potential accidents.

Court documents stated that Beckham was later offered the opportunity to resolve the matter through a fine and a driver awareness course, but failed to respond to the offer.

As a result, the case proceeded through the courts, and Beckham was convicted based on the evidence provided by police after he did not enter a plea.

At Westminster Magistrates’ Court, Beckham was found guilty of driving without being in a position to have proper control of the vehicle. He was fined £440 and received three penalty points on his driving licence.

The court also ordered him to pay £130 in legal costs and a £176 victim surcharge.

The case comes several years after his father, David Beckham, was banned from driving for six months in 2019 after admitting to using his mobile phone while behind the wheel.

The latest legal issue involving Romeo Beckham has attracted public attention amid ongoing reports surrounding tensions within the Beckham family, including the widely reported estrangement between eldest son Brooklyn Beckham and his famous parents.

While the driving offence is unrelated to the family dispute, the court ruling places another spotlight on one of Britain’s most high-profile celebrity families.
