TWICE has made history by becoming the first K-pop girl group to win an award at the American Music Awards (AMAs).
The group took home the trophy for “Best Female K-pop Artist” at the 2026 AMAs, held on May 25 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The American Music Awards, widely regarded alongside the Grammy Awards and Billboard Music Awards as one of the three major US music award shows, marked TWICE’s first win after receiving their second nomination.
Since winners are determined entirely through fan voting, the achievement highlights TWICE’s strong global fandom and widespread popularity.
The group is currently touring the world under their ‘THIS IS FOR’ world tour, which began in Incheon last July and includes 78 shows across 43 cities.
Their North American leg concluded in April with 35 concerts in 20 cities, attracting a total audience of around 550,000 fans — setting a record for the largest North American tour attendance by a K-pop girl group.
In Japan, TWICE also made history as the first overseas act to perform at Tokyo National Stadium, drawing 240,000 fans over three days.
Now in their 12th year since debut, the group continues their European tour with stops already completed in cities including Lisbon, Barcelona, Paris, Turin, Berlin and Cologne, with upcoming shows scheduled in Amsterdam on May 30 and 31.
