14-Year-Old Stabbing Case: Court Grants Final Extension for Juvenile’s Psychiatric Evaluation

Date:

The court today approved a one-month extension for the psychiatric evaluation of the juvenile accused in the murder case involving SMK Bandar Utama Damansara 4, to be conducted at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta. This marks the final extension allowed under the law.

The juvenile has now entered the third month of the psychiatric evaluation.

Magistrate Amira Sariaty binti Zainal granted the extension under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code, with the next court date scheduled for 16 January next year.

The suspect’s lawyer, Kitson Foong, explained that under Section 342, a psychiatric evaluation report may be extended for a maximum of three months, with monthly updates required.

“This means that by 19 January, Ulu Kinta Hospital must complete the psychiatric evaluation report for the juvenile accused,” he said.
