A delivery rider has won praise online after chasing down a driver accused of causing a multi-vehicle accident and allegedly fleeing the scene in Selangor.
The incident, which was captured on dashcam footage and widely shared on social media, reportedly took place earlier this month in the Petaling Jaya area.
According to the viral video, a yellow car was attempting to exit from a junction onto a main road when the driver allegedly overtook another black car that was also waiting to merge.
The yellow vehicle then suddenly cut directly into the middle lane, forcing an oncoming white car to swerve in an attempt to avoid a collision.
The white car subsequently lost control and crashed into a sports utility vehicle travelling in the right lane.
Footage showed the SUV slamming into the road barrier while the white car skidded across lanes before coming to a stop with severe damage.
Despite allegedly causing the chain collision, the yellow car was seen continuing to drive away from the scene.
Witnessing the incident, a delivery rider immediately pursued the yellow vehicle on his motorcycle while repeatedly gesturing for the driver to stop.
The rider could reportedly be heard shouting at the driver not to flee and to take responsibility for the accident.
The video quickly went viral online, with many netizens slamming the yellow car driver for reckless driving and allegedly leaving the scene after causing the crash.
Many pointed out that several vehicles had been patiently queuing to enter the main road, but the yellow car allegedly ignored traffic etiquette by overtaking and cutting dangerously into traffic.
Others praised the delivery rider for stepping in and attempting to stop the suspected hit-and-run driver.
Following the viral incident, Shamshudin reportedly confirmed that police had received a report regarding the case and that action had already been taken against the driver involved.
