A man was seriously injured while another passenger sustained injuries after a sedan car was involved in a road accident in front of a secondary school on Sunday afternoon.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said the incident was reported at about 1.22pm, involving a male driver and a female passenger.
In a broader road safety context, authorities have repeatedly stressed the importance of cautious driving near school zones, where traffic conditions can change suddenly and pose higher risks to road users.
According to the department, the male driver suffered severe injuries but was not trapped inside the vehicle.
Both victims had already been removed from the car by members of the public before the arrival of firefighters at the scene.
Firefighters from the Operations Response Team later used a stretcher to transport the injured driver to waiting medical personnel from the Health Ministry for further treatment.
The condition of the female passenger was reported as stable after receiving initial assistance.
Authorities have not yet released further details on the cause of the accident, and investigations are ongoing.
