A 21-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly shooting his father multiple times at their residence, in an incident police believe was linked to years of prolonged abuse.
Authorities said the shooting occurred on 31 May 2026 in the morning, when the suspect reportedly opened fire during a confrontation at the family home. The victim sustained injuries to the buttocks, left thigh and chest area.
In a broader context of domestic violence cases, police have noted that long-term household conflict can sometimes escalate into sudden and severe incidents when tensions remain unresolved over time.
Officers from the local police station were alerted at about 7am and immediately rushed to the scene, where they discovered three spent 9mm shell casings — one near the front entrance and two inside a bedroom.
The victim, identified as Atthsit, was later taken to hospital for medical treatment, where he is receiving care for his injuries.
The suspect, identified as Siradanai Thanang-sit, had fled the scene shortly after the shooting but was later apprehended at a relative’s house nearby at around 9.30am.
Police said preliminary investigations suggest the suspect had endured years of alleged abuse, including physical assault and threats involving a firearm, which he claims contributed to the confrontation.
Relatives of the family also confirmed that disputes between the father and son were frequent, with a major argument believed to have taken place shortly before the incident.
The suspect is now facing multiple charges, including attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm, while investigations into the full circumstances of the case are ongoing.
