A man was killed while a woman was injured after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a single-vehicle accident along Jalan Lachau this morning.
A spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations centre said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 8.39am.
A team from the Sri Aman fire station was immediately deployed to the scene.
Firefighters arrived about 10 minutes later and found a car involved in the crash with two adult occupants, a man and a woman.
The male driver was found trapped inside the vehicle and was later extricated by firefighters.
However, he was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH).
The female passenger was rescued by members of the public before the arrival of emergency responders and sustained injuries in the incident.
She was later transported to hospital by MOH ambulance for further treatment.
The deceased was handed over to police for further action, while firefighters carried out cleanup works before operations concluded at 10.14am.
