Police have arrested a man believed to have assaulted his 12-year-old daughter, forcing the young girl to flee from their home in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the girl was reported missing yesterday before being found by a member of the public at a shop in Metro Prima. “A report was lodged by the person who found her, and the child was brought to the Kepong Police Station before being sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for medical examination and treatment,” he said in a statement tonight.
According to Fadil, the victim told police that she had run away from home after being beaten by her father. Medical checks revealed that she had bruises below her lip, scratches on her back, and complained of pain in her head.
At about 4.40 p.m., the girl’s father had reportedly gone to the Kepong Police Station to file a missing person report — but he was later arrested for investigation under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
