A luxury Porsche Cayenne was seized by authorities after its owner was found to have failed to renew the vehicle’s road tax and insurance coverage, resulting in enforcement action during a highway operation.
The vehicle was detained by officers from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) during an operation along the Sultanah Bahiyah Highway at about 10.15am yesterday after it was spotted being driven in a suspicious manner.
Kedah JPJ Director Stien Van Lutam said checks revealed that both the vehicle’s Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) and insurance had expired since March 25, making it an offence under the Road Transport Act 1987.
Following the discovery, the driver, a self-employed man in his 40s, was issued a summons while the luxury SUV was immediately seized and sent to the Kedah JPJ depot for further investigation.
The driver reportedly told officers that he had simply forgotten to renew both the road tax and insurance.
Authorities stressed that strict enforcement will continue regardless of vehicle type or value, warning that there will be no compromise for those who violate road regulations.
