The Perak Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) foiled an attempt to illegally transport 101 goats in Bidor through “Ops Korban Tegas 2026”, conducted today.
Perak DVS director Dr Saifullizam Abd Kadir said the operation was carried out by enforcement officers in the early hours of the morning as part of efforts to strengthen livestock movement controls ahead of the festive season.
He said the vehicle was intercepted at about 3.30am at the Ladang Bikam rest stop (southbound).
“Initial checks found that the driver failed to produce any valid movement permit documents,” he said.
He added that the attempt was believed to involve concealing the livestock in the rear compartment of the vehicle using a canvas cover to evade detection.
However, the tactic was unsuccessful after enforcement officers conducted a thorough inspection.
Saifullizam said the case is being investigated under Section 36(1) of the Animals Act 1953, which provides for a maximum fine of RM15,000 upon conviction.
He added that Ops Korban Tegas 2026 is being carried out in conjunction with Aidiladha celebrations to curb illegal livestock movement and ensure proper regulation and safety of animal transportation.
