Police have arrested a man following a report of a sexual harassment incident involving a female student at a secondary school in the Sabak Bernam district.
Sabak Bernam District Police Chief, Superintendent Md Yusof Ahmad, said the authorities received the report recently and launched an immediate investigation.
“Upon receiving the report, an investigation paper was opened under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
He added that if convicted, the suspect could face imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping.
The suspect has since been arrested, and the case is currently under further investigation.
