The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm warning for several states, forecasting heavy rain, strong winds, and lightning until 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
According to the statement released at 8:30 a.m., the affected areas include Perlis; parts of Kedah such as Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, and Baling; Hulu Perak in Perak; as well as several districts in Kelantan, namely Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Jeli, and Tanah Merah.
In East Malaysia, the warning covers Lundu in Kuching, Sarawak, and the districts of Kinabatangan and Sandakan in Sabah.
MetMalaysia explained that the warning was issued after detecting signs of thunderstorms with rainfall exceeding 20 millimetres per hour, which are occurring or expected to persist for more than an hour.
The department added that thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts, valid for up to six hours from the time they are issued, and advised the public to stay alert for sudden weather changes.
