A restaurant owner in Foshan, Guangdong, China has gone viral after publicly pleading with the public to stop visiting his premises due to overwhelming customer crowds.
The eatery, known for its traditional herbal chicken soup, has recently experienced an unexpected surge in popularity, with long queues forming outside and customers reportedly waiting for hours to be served.
However, the owner, identified only as Mo, has expressed frustration over the sudden attention, repeatedly asking influencers and visitors to stop promoting his restaurant.
In several viral videos circulating online, Mo is seen voicing his exhaustion and claiming that life has become more difficult since the restaurant gained widespread attention.
“Please stop promoting my shop. My life has become much harder,” he was quoted as saying.
The restaurant has also displayed warning notices advising customers about the effects of its herbal soup, including possible digestive discomfort, and cautioning pregnant women against consuming it.
Despite his attempts to discourage publicity, his blunt honesty has only increased public curiosity, with social media users dubbing it the “most reluctant famous restaurant”.
Some netizens have even compared his attitude to China’s “tang ping” trend, which promotes stepping back from pressure and rejecting the pursuit of fame and constant productivity.
