Road Rage Turns Violent After Motorcyclist Chases And Rams Elderly Man At Petrol Station

Date:

A dispute over accident compensation at a petrol station in Krabi escalated into violence after a motorcyclist allegedly chased and rammed into a 67-year-old man, leaving him injured, with the entire incident captured on CCTV.

The confrontation occurred at a gas station in Krabi Yai subdistrict, Mueang district, on April 20, when a motorcycle rider reportedly drove against traffic and collided with an electric sedan driven by the elderly man. The incident led to a heated exchange between the two parties over repair costs.

According to CCTV footage, both individuals later entered the petrol station area to discuss compensation. The elderly driver, identified as 67-year-old Mr Boontho, a taxi driver, claimed the motorcyclist demanded 2,000 baht in damages, which he refused, insisting he was not at fault and that his own vehicle had suffered significant damage.

The situation then escalated when Mr Boontho attempted to walk away from the argument. The motorcyclist allegedly followed him, kicked him twice, and then accelerated his bike, ramming into him forcefully and sending him crashing to the ground before fleeing the scene.

Petrol station staff witnessed the incident, while the injured man sustained injuries from the impact. He later lodged a police report at Krabi City Police Station, urging authorities to locate and take legal action against the suspect.

Police are now reviewing CCTV footage as part of their investigation into the case, which has sparked public concern over road rage and violent disputes arising from minor traffic accidents.
