A coffee shop employee was left shaken after a customer suddenly turned aggressive and attempted to punch him while he was collecting payment from another table.
The incident reportedly happened at around 10.13am on Thursday at a coffee shop in Batu Pahat.
According to a post shared by the shop owner on Facebook, the employee had just delivered food to a customer and was preparing to collect payment when another man seated nearby suddenly lost his temper.
The man, who was dressed in black, allegedly shouted “What are you looking at?” along with vulgar language before suddenly swinging his fist towards the worker.
Fortunately, one of the man’s friends reacted quickly and managed to stop the attack before the situation escalated further.
The group later left the premises by car shortly after the commotion.
Although no injuries or property damage were reported, the employee was said to have been badly frightened by the unexpected incident.
CCTV screenshots released by the coffee shop showed the suspect attempting to throw a punch while another man beside him tried to restrain him immediately.
The shop owner stressed that the worker did not know the man personally and there had been no prior argument or conflict before the incident occurred.
Following the viral post, many netizens began speculating that the man may have been suffering from mental health issues.
Several online users claimed the individual had allegedly caused disturbances in other areas around Batu Pahat before, including verbally abusing strangers and attempting to start fights without reason.
Some also alleged he had previously been chased away by business owners and was often seen talking to himself in public.
Many commenters urged the coffee shop owner to lodge a police report to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
Others said that if the man was genuinely facing mental health problems, he should receive proper treatment before someone eventually gets hurt.
At the same time, several customers also took the opportunity to praise the coffee shop employee, describing him as polite, respectful and known for his good service attitude.
