Woman Run Down In Hit-And-Run After Chasing Suspected Thieves From Robbery

Date:

A woman was injured after being struck by a van in a hit-and-run incident in Oswestry, Shropshire, after she attempted to follow suspects who had allegedly targeted her business.

The incident involved Rebecca Davies, a 33-year-old house clearance business owner, who said she was pursuing a white van after being alerted that its occupants had stolen items from her premises.

Footage reportedly shows the van being followed before stopping at a junction, where Davies and her husband, Dan Brown, approached the vehicle after getting out of their car.

According to accounts, the van then suddenly moved forward and drove into Davies, knocking her to the ground before fleeing the scene. Her husband was also injured during the incident.

Davies said the suspects had been seen removing items from her business by a neighbour, prompting her to chase the vehicle in an attempt to stop them.

She stated that the van, which had foreign number plates, was later located near another business that had previously been targeted. However, she said the occupants appeared unwilling to be caught and allegedly drove into both her and her husband.

“I wasn’t seriously injured, just bruises and scratches. Dan had a black eye and a headache but nothing major,” she said.

She added: “This wasn’t just stealing. Why did I deserve this?”

West Mercia Police confirmed it received a report of a robbery at a business on Maesbury Road, Oswestry, and said investigations are ongoing.
