She was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

Authorities confirmed that a 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the case and later taken to hospital.

Preliminary investigations showed that both individuals were known to each other, police added.

The SCDF said it also responded to the emergency call at around the same time in the evening.

Police said investigations are ongoing as the case continues to draw public attention following a heavy police presence at the residential block.
