The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) has expressed its “highest gratitude” to the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, for his open support of military training exercises and his commitment to the welfare of veterans.
In a statement today, MAF said the Regent’s backing reflects a “strong strategic synergy” between the royal institution, the Johor state government and the armed forces.
The military described Johor’s willingness to provide space and cooperation for training activities as the “lifeblood” of its continued operational readiness.
Yesterday, Tunku Ismail had criticised parties who attempted to exploit military institutions for personal gain or social media attention.
MAF reiterated that all of its training activities are conducted strictly within legal boundaries, stressing that national defence responsibilities go beyond geographical limits.
It said consistent and realistic field training is essential to enhance the tactical skills of personnel and ensure the country’s defence readiness remains at the highest level.
The National Security Council (NSC) previously assured that all military exercises are carried out under strict safety and coordination procedures to minimise disruption to the public.
The armed forces also welcomed the Regent’s assurance that Johor remains open to veterans, saying such recognition boosts morale among serving personnel.
MAF added that acknowledging the sacrifices of former servicemen shows that their contributions continue to be valued.
Reaffirming its mission, the military said it remains professional and committed to safeguarding the safety of the people and the nation’s sovereignty.
It added that all operations are carried out under the authority of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Malaysia’s Supreme Head, and will continue to focus on core national defence priorities.
