22-Year-Old Motorcyclist Is Thrown From Bike After Losing Control In High-Speed Crash

Date:

Shocking dashcam footage has captured the moment a young motorcyclist was violently thrown from his bike after losing control while taking a bend at high speed in Norfolk.

The rider, identified only as Harry, was returning home after spending the day socialising with friends when the crash occurred along the A1122 on April 25.

Video released by police shows the 22-year-old approaching a corner at speed before narrowly missing oncoming traffic. Moments later, he loses control of his motorcycle and is launched from the bike onto the road as the machine veers off the carriageway and into a ditch.

Despite the dramatic nature of the crash, Harry escaped with only minor injuries, suffering little more than bumps and bruises.

Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, where officers assessed the damage and spoke to the rider. Police believe his protective riding gear played a crucial role in preventing far more serious injuries or even death.

The motorcyclist later agreed to allow the footage to be released publicly in the hope of highlighting the dangers of speeding and demonstrating how quickly a routine journey can turn into a life-threatening situation.

Attending officer PC Alex Williams described the incident as a stark reminder of the risks faced by motorcyclists, particularly younger riders.

He said the outcome could easily have been far worse and noted that a slight change in circumstances may have resulted in fatal injuries. He also recalled the emotional moment the rider’s father arrived at the scene after receiving an alert on his phone.

Williams said road traffic collisions affect not only those directly involved but also their families, friends and communities. He urged all motorists to drive according to road and weather conditions, avoid distractions and prioritise safety at all times.

Norfolk Police have since used the incident as part of a wider road safety message, encouraging riders to carry out routine safety checks, wear appropriate protective equipment and allow extra time for journeys rather than taking unnecessary risks.

The dramatic footage serves as a powerful warning about the potentially devastating consequences of excessive speed and loss of control on the road.
