A child suffered a burn to the face after being accidentally struck by the lit end of a cigarette while walking along a pedestrian street with a parent in Henan, China.
According to the child’s mother, the incident occurred on July 28 while they were strolling through the busy shopping area.
She said they initially noticed a mark on the child’s face and suspected it was a burn, but the smoker had already walked away by the time they realised what had happened.
After reviewing videos on her mobile phone, the mother discovered that the incident had been captured on camera.
The footage allegedly showed a passer-by swinging an arm while holding a lit cigarette, with the burning cigarette end accidentally coming into contact with the child’s face.
The mother said she did not attempt to track down or hold the individual responsible because the person had already left the area.
Instead, she immediately took her child to hospital for medical treatment.
It is unclear how serious the burn was, and no further details about the child’s condition have been released.
