A 70-year-old woman in Seattle had a frightening experience after allegedly relying too heavily on Google Maps, ending up driving her Mazda CX-5 onto a light rail track.
The incident saw the elderly driver unintentionally enter the rail line and continue for around 400 metres along an elevated section near Mount Baker Station.
The alarming episode, which occurred at about 6.20pm local time, shocked commuters and bystanders at the station as the SUV was seen moving along the restricted transit path.
The mistake forced light rail services to be suspended for around two hours while authorities worked to safely remove the vehicle from the tracks.
Emergency crews first cut power to the rail line before carefully carrying out recovery operations to extract the SUV.
Footage shared online showed the vehicle stranded on the tracks before it was eventually pulled out by emergency responders.
Authorities are now investigating how the driver ended up entering the rail system in the first place.
