A Brazilian man whose wife cut off his penis after discovering he had cheated on her says he still loves her and plans to marry her again.
Gilberto Nogueira de Oliveira, 42, wants to rekindle his relationship with Daiane dos Santos Farias, who was jailed for four years and eight months over the attack on December 22, 2023.
Daiane reportedly flew into a rage after discovering her husband’s infidelity on her birthday. She allegedly lured him into having sex, tied his hands with a pair of knickers and attacked his genitals with a razor before flushing the severed organ down the toilet.

After Daiane was released early from prison in November, Gilberto contacted her to revive their relationship, saying he had missed her despite what had happened.
He now intends to use part of the compensation he received over the unauthorised circulation of photographs of his injuries to fund their second wedding.
Following the attack, Gilberto was rushed to hospital, where medical staff photographed his injuries, reportedly explaining that they had never encountered a similar case and wanted to determine the best treatment.
Gilberto consented to the photographs for medical purposes but later discovered that the images had been shared in a WhatsApp group and circulated on social media, including Twitter, now known as X.
Investigators traced one of the images to a computer at the hospital. The Santa Casa de Atibaia medical centre was subsequently ordered to pay compensation.
Gilberto received 20,000 Brazilian reais, equivalent to approximately £3,020, in damages. However, he criticised the amount as inadequate given the humiliation he suffered and has appealed for further compensation.
“This compensation is very low. I want more. I need money because I also want to renovate my house,” he said.
In the meantime, he plans to spend some of the money on remarrying Daiane and obtaining a penile prosthesis. He has already undergone blood tests ahead of the planned surgery and may receive assistance through Brazil’s public healthcare system.
Despite the severity of the attack, Gilberto defended his wife, describing the incident as something she did “in the heat of the moment”.
“I really want to get back together with her. I love her,” he said.
“It never crossed my mind to do anything bad to her, and it still doesn’t.”
