A female teacher was fatally stabbed at a school in India on Monday in a shocking attack that unfolded in broad daylight.
Preliminary investigations found that the suspect had allegedly stalked the victim before launching the assault.
Police said the victim was stabbed about 20 times in the chest and neck.
CCTV footage, which has since gone viral on social media, showed the attacker waiting at the main entrance of a school in Sikrona village, Faridabad, Haryana. The suspect had concealed his face with a scarf before ambushing the teacher as she arrived.
The attacker then pulled a knife hidden inside his trousers and repeatedly stabbed the victim. A school staff member attempted to intervene but was threatened with the weapon before the suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle.
The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Amit, was arrested around two hours after the fatal attack.
School administrator Tejpal said the victim had been teaching at the school for about a year.
Initial investigations indicate that the suspect carried out the attack after the teacher decided to end her relationship and stop communicating with him.
