A woman in Henan Province, China, was given an administrative penalty after making a false police report in an attempt to find the hotel room where her husband was staying with another woman.
At around 6am on July 20, police from the Xincheng Police Station in Huaxian County, Anyang received a report alleging that prostitution activities were taking place at a local hotel.
Officers were immediately dispatched to the scene and conducted a thorough inspection of the premises. However, they found no evidence of any prostitution-related offences.
Police then contacted the caller, who said she was nearby and arrived at the hotel shortly afterwards.
During questioning, the woman admitted she had fabricated the report after discovering that her husband had checked into the hotel with another woman.
Believing she could use the police response to find out her husband’s room number, she falsely claimed that illegal prostitution activities were taking place at the hotel.
Authorities said the false report wasted valuable police resources and disrupted normal law enforcement operations.
The woman was subsequently issued an administrative punishment for making a false police report in accordance with the law.
