27 Injured After 18-Wheel Trailer Truck Suddenly Changeds Lane Colliding with Bus

Date:

A serious road accident involving a fully loaded passenger bus and an 18-wheel truck left 27 people injured after a sudden lane change led to a collision on Mittraphap Road in Khon Kaen Province.

The incident occurred at around 11.10pm on April 26, 2026, near the Tha Phra–Kosum intersection in Mueang District. Emergency responders and rescue teams rushed to the scene after a tour bus travelling from Si Chiang Mai, Nong Khai, towards Bangkok crashed into a rock-laden trailer truck.

The impact caused severe damage to the right side of the bus, prompting rescuers to evacuate passengers and transport the injured to several hospitals, including Khon Kaen Hospital, Srinakarin Hospital, and Sirindhorn Hospital. Of the 27 injured, 22 reportedly declined hospital admission.

Preliminary information indicates the bus had picked up passengers from Si Chiang Mai District and later from Khon Kaen Bus Terminal 3, carrying a total of 49 people, including passengers and staff, at the time of the crash.

Authorities said the accident happened when the trailer truck suddenly changed lanes, leaving the bus unable to brake in time, resulting in a violent collision.

Police at Tha Phra Station are continuing investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash.
