A convenience store in Taman Wahyu, Kuala Lumpur, was robbed by a man believed to be armed with a pistol in the early hours of Tuesday, with the incident captured on CCTV.
The robbery reportedly took place at about 5.47am. Footage of the incident was later shared on social media by Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng.
The 90-second CCTV recording shows the suspect entering the store before pointing what appeared to be a pistol at the cashier and demanding money.
The assailant then ordered the employee to open the cash register. When the worker was unable to do so quickly, the suspect allegedly assaulted him.
After the cash drawer was opened, the robber used his left hand to collect the money, placed it into a bag and fled the premises.
The cashier attempted to escape during the incident but was stopped by the suspect before the robbery was completed.
Police have yet to release further details on the case or confirm the amount of cash stolen. Investigations are ongoing.
