Form Six To Remain Under Education Ministry For Now, Says PM Anwar

Date:

The Form Six system will remain under the Ministry of Education (MOE) for the time being, despite earlier plans for it to be placed under the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the arrangement could be reviewed in the future after several years of implementation if necessary.

“For now, let Form Six remain under the Education Ministry. This will make things easier because there are many aspects that need to be taken into consideration,” he said while addressing the ministry’s monthly assembly on Tuesday.

Anwar acknowledged that Form Six is a form of post-secondary education and serves as a pre-university pathway, but said it is more practical for the programme to remain under the Education Ministry for now.

He explained that factors such as the existing education system, teachers and administrative matters were among the reasons for maintaining the current arrangement.

The Prime Minister added that the government may revisit the decision in the coming years if there is a need to transfer Form Six to the Higher Education Ministry.
