A 25-year-old man identified as an “along” agent has been jailed and fined by the Magistrate’s Court after pleading guilty to issuing threats to burn down the home of a senior citizen.
The accused, Kylee Choo Hsien Xin, was sentenced to 14 days in jail and fined RM5,000, with a five-month jail term imposed in default of payment. He later settled the fine.
The court heard that the unemployed man had left a handwritten note threatening to set fire to a 67-year-old victim’s house in Taman Selatan Yong Peng in the early hours of April 7.
According to the charge, the threat was discovered after the elderly victim found the note at the front of his home, which also contained a foreign WhatsApp contact number.
The incident escalated further when the front of the house was found splashed with red paint, prompting the victim to lodge a police report.
Investigations led police to arrest the suspect on May 23, with forensic handwriting analysis later confirming his involvement in the threatening message.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Firdaus Ruslan, while the accused was represented by legal aid counsel from the National Legal Aid Foundation.
