Customer Claims To Find Dead Rat In Bowl Of Laksa, Post Goes Viral

Date:

A customer in Langkawi has alleged that a dead rat was found inside a bowl of laksa purchased from a local food outlet, sparking disgust and concern among social media users.

The claim surfaced after Threads user @txrmzii._ shared photographs online showing a dark-coloured object submerged in the laksa broth. The object was marked in the images to highlight the portion believed to be the source of concern.

The post quickly gained attention, with many netizens expressing shock and questioning the hygiene standards of food premises.

Food safety issues such as this are often taken seriously as they involve not only customer satisfaction but also public health, cleanliness and consumer confidence in food establishments.

While the allegation has yet to be independently verified, the viral post has prompted calls from social media users for the relevant authorities to investigate the matter and determine the source of the contamination.

If confirmed, authorities may need to examine several aspects, including the food ingredients used, preparation methods and the overall cleanliness of the premises involved.

At the time of writing, no official statement has been issued by relevant authorities regarding the allegation.

In a latest development, the food stall owner has reportedly lodged a police report over the incident and denied serving laksa containing a dead rat. According to the report, the customer returned to the stall at about 5.30pm to complain about the alleged discovery. The owner claimed the matter was later handled by her husband, who maintained that the laksa served did not contain any foreign object after checks were conducted. The owner also stated that RM50 was given to the customer to seek medical treatment at a clinic or hospital after the complaint was raised. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the outcome of any investigation into the matter.
