DNA samples have been collected from relatives of 52 of the 55 Malaysians who remain unaccounted for following the devastating floods and landslides in Nepal.
Malaysian Solidarity: Families in Hope representative Dr R Manivannan said authorities were still working to obtain samples from the remaining families to complete the collection.
“As of yesterday, DNA samples from relatives of 52 of the 55 Malaysians who remain uncontactable had been obtained,” he said when contacted.
Manivannan said the initial target was to complete the DNA collection this week and that there had been no delay so far.
However, when asked whether samples from all remaining families could be obtained by the end of the week, he said this would depend on whether the relatives could be reached.
“I cannot comment on that as it depends on whether the relatives can be contacted,” he said.
