Eight Vehicles Involved In Multi-Vehicle Crash On North-South Expressway Near Yong Peng

Date:

A multi-vehicle collision involving two lorries and six cars occurred along the North-South Expressway (PLUS) near Yong Peng on Tuesday morning, causing major traffic congestion in the northbound direction.

The accident took place at approximately 10.55am at Kilometre 128 between Yong Peng and Pagoh, temporarily blocking all northbound lanes as emergency responders carried out rescue operations and removed the damaged vehicles.

Dashcam footage that has since gone viral on social media appears to show a box lorry failing to stop in time before crashing into a line of vehicles that had come to a halt due to heavy traffic ahead.

Preliminary information indicates that the crash involved a total of eight vehicles, comprising two lorries and six passenger cars.

No fatalities have been reported so far, although several people are believed to have sustained injuries. The extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Motorists travelling along the expressway have been advised to follow instructions from traffic personnel at the scene and consider using alternative routes where possible while recovery work continues.
