Five Motorcyclists Injured After Hitting Telecom Cable Left On MRR2

Date:

Five motorcyclists were injured after crashing into a telecommunications cable left on the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) near Kilometre 21.5 from Hulu Kelang towards Ampang early Tuesday morning.

Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Khairul Anuar Khalid said police received a report about the incident at around 4.30am.

Preliminary investigations found that the five motorcycles were involved in separate crashes after hitting a telecommunications cable measuring about 4cm in diameter and approximately 35 metres long, which had been left on the roadway.

All five riders sustained minor injuries.

Police are investigating the incident under Sections 427, 431A, 283 and 124K of the Penal Code.

The incident went viral on Threads after a user claimed the abandoned telecommunications cable was the cause of the series of accidents on the highway.
