Health Department To Probe Alleged Reuse Of Leftover Food At Seremban Nasi Kandar Restaurant

Date:

The Negeri Sembilan Health Department has announced it will investigate claims that a nasi kandar restaurant in Seremban washed leftover food previously served to customers and reused it the following day.

Department director Dr Zuraida Mohamed, quoted by BuletinTV3, said her officers have been instructed to visit the restaurant to verify the allegations.

“I have just been informed about the incident and have directed the relevant officers to go to the location. If the claims circulating on social media are true, appropriate action will be taken. The public is also advised to use proper channels to submit complaints,” she said.

The investigation follows a viral social media post in which a netizen alleged that an employee was seen washing uneaten portions of chicken, mutton, and tofu before sorting them into trays. According to the netizen, when confronted, the worker admitted that the leftovers were being cleaned for reuse the next day.

“At first, another worker tried to mislead me with dishonest answers, but eventually admitted that the food would indeed be cooked again, claiming it was ‘not dangerous’. I want to stress that this behaviour is completely unethical, unsafe, and utterly disgusting,” the netizen said.

The individual also expressed hope that the authorities would take strict action against the restaurant to prevent any public health risks.
