An alleged prostitution operation involving foreign women at a three-star hotel along Jalan Cheras was uncovered during an immigration raid on Saturday.
The operation, carried out by the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department (JIM) at about 1.05am, was conducted following intelligence and information gathered by enforcement officers.
During the raid, several foreign women dressed in revealing outfits were found attending to customers in designated hotel rooms.
One of the hotel rooms was also believed to have been used as a resting area for the women while waiting for customers.
The activity was allegedly promoted through social media applications, with customers required to pay between RM200 and RM230 before arrangements were made by a local man believed to be acting as a ‘captain’.
A 21-year-old Indonesian woman, known as Aqis, claimed she had been in Malaysia since April after entering the country as a tourist.
She said she was introduced to the job by a friend and claimed she usually received only one customer a day, earning around RM100 in commission for each transaction.
“I was already planning to return home,” she said.
Meanwhile, a local hotel staff member claimed she was aware of the alleged activity but declined to provide further details.
Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department director Hamsha Injau said eight individuals were detained during the raid, involving six foreign women and two men.
He said the women comprised five Indonesian nationals and one Thai national, while the two men were a local man suspected of being the ‘captain’ and a Nepalese national who worked at the hotel.
Checks conducted at the hotel rooms also uncovered several condoms believed to be linked to the alleged immoral activities.
Hamsha said the foreign nationals were investigated for offences including overstaying and misusing their passes.
He added that JIM Kuala Lumpur would continue enforcement action without compromise against individuals and parties found violating immigration laws.
