A 49-year-old lorry driver has been remanded for four days over allegations that he assaulted and threatened to kill his wife after she attended a concert with another man in Kuala Lumpur.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Aimi Nawwar Mohamad Othman at the Magistrates’ Court today to allow police to investigate the case further.
According to a police report lodged by his 42-year-old wife, the incident occurred at about 8.30am yesterday when the suspect accused her of having an affair with another man.
He allegedly slapped the back of her head before pointing a knife at her and telling her, “You might as well die.”
The woman sustained injuries to her head and scratches on her nose before lodging a report at the Tongkang Pechah Police Station yesterday.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, who works for a water filtration company, had attended a concert with another man without her husband’s knowledge.
She had also reportedly brought their daughter along to accompany her during the concert.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.
