Investigation Launched After Police MPV Seen Collecting Plastic Bags At Mamak Eatery In Sungai Buloh

Date:

Police have launched an investigation after a video showing a police patrol vehicle stopping at a mamak restaurant in Sungai Buloh went viral on social media yesterday.

Sungai Buloh District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor, confirmed the incident, saying authorities detected the 12-second clip circulating online at about 7.50pm.

According to him, the video shows a police multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) driving through a road located between a row of shop lots before stopping in front of a mamak restaurant.

“Based on the recording, a worker from the restaurant approached the MPV shortly after it stopped,” he said in a statement tonight.

The worker was then seen handing two white plastic bags to the driver of the vehicle before leaving the scene.

Mohd Hafiz confirmed that the vehicle involved belonged to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) under the Sungai Buloh District Police Headquarters (IPD Sungai Buloh).

He said investigations are currently underway and firm action will be taken against any officer found to have committed misconduct.

“The Sungai Buloh District Police Headquarters will not compromise with any personnel whose actions could tarnish the image of the Royal Malaysia Police,” he said.

At the same time, he advised the public not to spread speculation or unfounded assumptions that could damage the reputation of the police force.

Earlier, the video circulating online showed the police MPV driving through the middle of shop lots before stopping at the mamak restaurant, believed to have taken place during daylight hours in the Ramadan period.
