A salesman who went viral after allegedly slashing a motorcyclist and causing serious injuries on the Federal Highway last week has pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court today.
The accused, Azmi Jantan, 43, entered the plea after the charge was read to him through an interpreter before Datin Fatimah Zahari.
The court fixed July 8 for the facts of the case and sentencing.
According to the charge, Azmi is accused of intentionally causing grievous hurt to Mohd Fairus Jaafar, 45, using a meat cleaver, a weapon capable of causing death.
The incident allegedly took place at Kilometer 14.6 of the Federal Highway motorcycle lane, Section 13, at about 8.19am on June 11.
The offence falls under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to 20 years, as well as fines or whipping upon conviction.
The court granted bail of RM15,000 and ordered the accused to report to the police station monthly until the case is concluded.
