The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds affecting several areas across nine states until 7pm today.
The warning covers parts of Perak including Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim.
Several districts in Kelantan are also affected, including Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang and Pasir Puteh, while areas in Terengganu such as Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman are also under alert.
In Pahang, the affected areas include Raub, Bentong, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin.
MetMalaysia said the weather warning also involves Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, as well as parts of Negeri Sembilan including Jelebu and Seremban.
In Johor, areas expected to experience the adverse weather include Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing and Pontian.
The warning further covers several locations in Sarawak, including Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei, Sibu (Kanowit), Mukah (Tanjung Manis and Daro), Kapit (Song), Miri (Beluru and Telang Usan) and Limbang.
For Sabah, the affected areas include Tambunan in the Interior Division as well as parts of the West Coast and Kudat, including Kota Marudu.
MetMalaysia advised the public to remain alert and monitor updates as weather conditions may change from time to time.
