A mild earthquake measuring magnitude 3.3 was recorded in waters off Batu Pahat in the early hours of this morning.
In a statement, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the tremor occurred approximately 20 kilometres southwest of Batu Pahat.
It added that the earthquake was centred at coordinates 1.7° North and 102.7° East, with a depth of 10 kilometres.
MetMalaysia said the tremor was recorded at 1.17am, and shaking may have been felt in parts of Johor.
The agency confirmed it is continuously monitoring the situation and developments in the affected area.
Members of the public who experienced the tremor have been urged to submit feedback through a survey form provided by MetMalaysia.
This latest incident marks the fifth recorded earthquake in the Batu Pahat area, with the previous tremor reported on March 14, which measured magnitude 3.2.
