Perodua Ativa Damaged After Tree Collapse In Taman Kampar

Date:

A Perodua Ativa was damaged after being crushed by a fallen tree in an incident at Taman Kampar, Penang, on Tuesday evening.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the vehicle owner was not inside the car when the incident occurred.

Penang Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations John Sagun Francis said an emergency call was received at about 6.29pm, prompting firefighters from the Jalan Perak Fire and Rescue Station to be dispatched to the scene.

The fire engine arrived approximately three minutes later after travelling about two kilometres.

According to John, the incident involved a tree that toppled onto a parked Perodua Ativa near the area.

The vehicle owner, a 29-year-old woman, was not inside the car at the time and no other victims were involved.

Following an initial assessment, firefighters equipped with personal protective equipment carried out cutting and clearing works to remove the fallen tree safely.

The operation was completed at about 7.35pm, after which the area was inspected to ensure there were no further hazards.

Responsibility for the site was then handed over to the Penang Island City Council (MBPP), which was also present during the operation.

The response involved seven firefighters, including a supervising officer, and a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle. The operation officially concluded at 7.38pm.

Representatives from MBPP and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) also assisted at the scene.
