PGA Busts Crude Palm Oil Syndicate, RM633,050 Worth Of Goods Seized

Date:

The General Operations Force (PGA) Battalion 5 Simpang Renggam arrested three men and seized crude palm oil worth more than RM600,000 during a raid in Jalan Nibong, Tanjung Langsat Industrial Area, on Tuesday.

According to Salehin Suleiman, the operation was carried out under Ops Taring Palma at around 12.15pm by a team of officers and personnel from the battalion.

Following surveillance and inspections, police detained two local men aged 31 and 41, along with a 32-year-old foreign national.

Authorities also confiscated a blue CAMC tanker lorry, a Mitsubishi three-tonne lorry, three containers filled with 550 litres of crude palm oil, 13 drum barrels, a connecting hose, a connecting pipe and approximately 22,000 litres of crude palm oil.

“The estimated total value of the seizure is RM633,050,” he said in a statement.

Salehin explained that the syndicate’s modus operandi involved one suspect driving a three-tonne lorry to purchase and collect crude palm oil from tanker lorries transporting the commodity.

The crude palm oil would then allegedly be transferred into drum barrels before being resold at current market prices to other suspects.

He added that the case is currently being investigated under relevant laws and regulations.

“Ops Taring Palma successfully thwarted attempts by irresponsible syndicates involved in the collection of crude palm oil without valid permits,” he said.

The authorities also urged members of the public to continue providing information to help curb criminal activities, smuggling operations and the illegal entry of undocumented migrants through unauthorised routes.

The public may channel information through the PGA Battalion 5 Simpang Renggam operations hotline at 07-7557280.
