Police Hunt Biker After Wrong-Way Ride On Karak Highway

Date:

Police are tracking down a motorcyclist who was caught riding against traffic before colliding with a car at kilometre 34 of the Karak Highway heading towards Bentong, Pahang, on 2 April.

Gombak Deputy District Police Chief Abang Kaderi Abang Wasli said the incident occurred at around 2.30pm, involving a 34-year-old man who was driving a Volkswagen Golf in the right lane.

He explained that the situation took a dangerous turn when a motorcycle, with an unidentified registration number, suddenly appeared from the opposite direction and grazed the victim’s vehicle. The shocking moment was later captured in a viral video circulating on social media, drawing widespread public concern.

Fortunately, the car driver did not suffer any injuries, while the motorcyclist failed to stop at the scene following the collision. Authorities believe the act of riding against traffic posed a serious risk to other road users and are treating the matter with urgency.

Police have opened an investigation under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. The case highlights ongoing concerns over reckless behaviour on highways, which continues to endanger lives despite repeated warnings.

Members of the public who witnessed the incident or have relevant information are urged to come forward to assist in the investigation. They may contact Traffic Investigating Officer Inspector Rathana Kumar Vardaraju at 017-7745565 or the Gombak District Police Headquarters operations room at 03-61262222.
