Two former Felda directors, including a Datuk, have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over suspected misconduct, abuse of power and corruption linked to the appointment of a developer for a project in Kuala Lumpur.
The two men, aged in their 60s and 50s, were believed to have been detained at around 4pm on Sunday after appearing at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to have their statements recorded.
According to a source, both suspects are also believed to be linked to the sale of land belonging to the statutory body to a company with interests connected to the developer.
The land sale was allegedly carried out without the knowledge of the statutory body’s board of directors and its subsidiary.
The suspects are expected to be brought before the Putrajaya Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where MACC will seek a remand order.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrests when contacted.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009.
