Two Indonesian men have been sentenced to 18 months in prison by the Johor Bahru Sessions Court after pleading guilty to a diesel-related offence at a premises in Taman Mount Austin on April 23.
Hendrick Dwi Setyawan, 38, and Maulana Bachrudin, 28, entered their guilty pleas after the charge was read before Sessions Court Judge Datuk Che Wan Zaidi Che Wan Ibrahim.
The two men, who were employees at the premises, were charged with causing 12,789 litres of diesel to be stored in a storage facility that had not been authorised by the Controller of Supplies.
The offence was charged under Section 20(1) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961, punishable under Section 22(1) of the same Act and read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor from the Johor branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), Nur Sulehan Abd Rahman.
Both accused were represented by lawyer Mohamad Azrulsani Othman.
The case stemmed from a KPDN Johor raid on the premises in Taman Mount Austin, Johor Bahru, on April 23, after enforcement officers discovered 12,789 litres of diesel stored at an unauthorised location.
The two men were also unable to produce any licence, permit or other documents required under KPDN regulations in relation to the diesel.
