Library Assistant Shocked After Man Allegedly Exposes Himself And Steals RM390

Date:

A female library assistant was left shaken after a man allegedly exposed himself while she was working at Padang Siding Rural Library on Wednesday.

Arau district police chief Superintendent Ahmad Mohsin Md Rodi said police received a report regarding the incident at about 12.06pm.

He said the incident allegedly occurred at around 11am when the 37-year-old victim was stationed at the library counter and the man entered the premises before sitting on a sofa near her workstation.

“The suspect entered the library and sat on a sofa beside the counter where the complainant was working. They spoke briefly before she noticed that the man had allegedly exposed his genitals and was touching them while leaning against the sofa,” he said in a statement.

Alarmed by the incident, the woman left the library and sought help from a friend, who was also a witness and worked at the nearby Padang Siding Kemas kindergarten. The two then returned to the library and found the man still there before asking him to leave.

After he left, the victim checked her bag and wallet, which had been placed under the counter, and discovered that RM390 in cash was missing.

Police said the woman suspected the money had been taken by the man while she was away seeking assistance.

The witness also allegedly saw the man exposing himself and touching his genitals before he was asked to leave the premises.

The suspect has yet to be identified. He was reportedly dressed entirely in black, including black shorts, and was riding a grey Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle.

Ahmad Mohsin said preliminary investigations found that the library was located within the grounds of Masjid Al-Masyoor Padang Siding and the Padang Siding Kemas kindergarten, an area accessible to members of the public.

Police have conducted an inspection at the scene, taken photographs and prepared a rough sketch of the location. Statements from the victim and witness have also been recorded as investigations continue.

The suspect is still being traced.

The case is being investigated under Sections 380 and 509 of the Penal Code.
