A woman was killed while six others, including three children, were injured in a four-vehicle crash along Jalan Permas Utara near Masjid Kampung Plentong in Johor on Monday morning.
The accident, which occurred at about 7.07am, involved a Ford Maxi factory van, a Honda Civic, a Perodua Alza and a Yamaha LC135 motorcycle.
Johor Jaya Fire and Rescue Station operations commander, Senior Fire Officer I Rafie Ahmad Sareng, said a team of seven firefighters, together with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle, was dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving an emergency call.
The rescue team arrived at 7.13am and found seven people involved in the collision.
A female passenger travelling in the Ford Maxi van was pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health personnel. The van driver sustained injuries.
The female driver of the Honda Civic escaped unharmed, while the driver of the Perodua Alza suffered injuries.
The motorcyclist riding the Yamaha LC135 and three pillion riders — two boys and a girl — were also injured in the crash.
All injured victims were transported to Hospital Sultan Ismail by ambulance and EMRS vehicles for further treatment.
The body of the deceased was handed over to the police for further investigation.
