Akmal Warns DAP Leaders Against Challenging Sultan Selangor’s Decree

Date:

Muhamad Akmal Saleh has warned several Democratic Action Party (DAP) leaders against continuing to dispute issues surrounding pig farming activities in Selangor, saying they should not test the patience of the Malay community and Muslims on matters involving the Sultan’s decree.

In a statement shared on Facebook, Akmal said the second media statement issued by Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah proved that there were still parties who failed to understand the importance of manners, the law and respect towards the royal institution.

He stressed that the Sultan’s decree was not a political suggestion but a clear stance by the ruler in safeguarding the interests of the state, the people, the environment and social harmony.

“Politics has its limits, and respect for the ruler should never be crossed. Respect the Sultan’s decree, stop politicising the matter and do not allow the public to see leaders as not only incapable of governing, but also lacking manners in a constitutional monarchy,” he said.

Akmal added that good leaders listen to royal decrees and understand the concerns of the people, while arrogant leaders continue searching for ways to oppose them despite receiving clear reminders.

The controversy follows Sultan Sharafuddin’s firm position against any pig farming activities in Selangor, whether on a large or small scale, due to land suitability issues and environmental risks that could affect public interest.

According to the Sultan’s private secretary, Mohamad Munir Bani, the ruler’s position remains unchanged from an earlier statement issued on February 10 regarding the issue.

The palace said the decision was made after considering multiple implications, including environmental pollution risks involving land, air and water sources caused by livestock waste and sewage discharge.

Akmal further said the Sultan had clearly highlighted concerns involving environmental impact, land limitations, economic priorities and the long-term interests of the state, urging all parties to stop turning the issue into a political debate.
