The Malaysian United Indigenous Party (Bersatu) has strengthened its organisational machinery with the appointment of its Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, as the party’s Director-General of Elections with immediate effect.
The appointment was decided during the Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) meeting chaired by its President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, last night as part of efforts to reinforce preparations for the upcoming General Election (GE) and State Elections.
In a statement issued on Friday, Bersatu also announced the rollout of its main operations room, or “war room”, which will be equipped with modern technology and a digital election operations system via a cyber platform starting June 1.
The four-hour meeting also focused on political developments in Johor, where the MPT directed the state leadership to enhance cooperation with Perikatan Nasional (PN) and other parties willing to pursue reforms for the state’s prosperity.
In addition, Bersatu will hold a series of high-level strategic discussions involving leadership from Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka in June to refine new strategies aimed at increasing public support.
To strengthen ground operations, Bersatu Deputy President Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu will lead audit and monitoring efforts using the Nadi application in key areas starting Friday.
In a separate development, the MPT also appointed Muhammad Hilman Idham as Bersatu’s representative in the Perikatan Nasional Supreme Council, reflecting a push to bring in younger leadership within the coalition.
On organisational matters, the MPT confirmed the appointment of Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi as the Kepala of the Lembah Pantai division and Datuk Safian Mohd Yunus as the Kepala of the Bandar Tun Razak division.
The statement also noted that the party’s communications and publicity efforts will be further enhanced under Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz to ensure Bersatu’s “pro-people” and caring brand continues to gain public trust through social media platforms.
