Budget 2027: RM2.62 Billion For Farmers, Fishermen And Smallholders Get More Aid

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced several assistance measures for farmers, fishermen and smallholders under Budget 2027, including RM2.62 billion in incentives for paddy farmers.

Under the paddy farmer incentive programme, overall assistance will amount to approximately RM4,300 per hectare, while the paddy cultivation incentive will provide RM100 per hectare for each planting season.

The government will also expand the paddy cultivation incentive to Sabah and Sarawak, extending the programme to farmers in both states.

For fishermen, the government will increase the number of special fishing licences by 20,000 fishermen. A total of RM40 million will also be channelled through Agrobank to support the sector.

In addition, RM178 million will be allocated for fishermen’s assistance through diesel subsidies, cost-of-living allowances and targeted incentives.

Smallholders will also benefit from RM100 million allocated for plantation road repairs. Meanwhile, the rubber production incentive will be increased to RM3.30 per kilogramme, benefiting more than 300,000 smallholders.

The measures form part of Budget 2027’s support for the agricultural and fisheries sectors, with assistance aimed at improving livelihoods and addressing operating costs for those working in these industries.
